Since the inception of regulation under the Financial Services Authority (FSA ), in January 2005, the General Insurance market has changed considerably. More recently, the regulator has adopted a principle driven approach to consumer welfare called ‘Treating Customers Fairly’. At present, current legislation gives the consumer more protection when they purchase a policy through a broker, in comparison to purchasing direct from an insurer. As a broker, we believe passionately about the welfare of our clients. One of our aims is to ensure that our clients are treated fairly by their insurer, especially at the point of claiming on their policy. Although we resolve most issues between our clients and their insurance provider, we cannot guarantee a successful outcome for every complaint. A stronger stance from the FSA could prevent a lot of these issues from occurring in the future. As your Broker, our purpose is to ensure that:
