All insurers’ policies differ and it is impossible to make an accurate comparison of plans and benefits. To make comparison easier, we classify policies as one of three different types; 1. Budget Cover: - These plans will cover you for your in-patient and day-patient treatment only. Some insurers will give you some out-patient benefits only if connected to an in-patients stay. 2. Standard Cover: - These plans will cover you for in-patient and day-patient treatment and give you a limit on your out-patient treatment. This is often the more popular choice due to all-round value for money. 3. Comprehensive Cover: - These plans will cover you for in-patient, day-patient and out-patient treatment in full although some benefits are limited. All three types of plans are available for both the individual and corporate markets, but in reality, most companies tend to buy the comprehensive plans. Some plans have a “six week option”. This generally means that if your In-patient treatment is available within six weeks with the NHS after seeing your consultant, then your plan does not come into operation, and no medical expenses benefit for in-patient treatment is payable. Ask an adviser if you are still not clear which type of plan you are looking for... |
